State highways: except as NRS 408.285(2) provides, only those highways which are owned and maintained by the Department of Transportation in accordance with Chapter 408 are state highways, and the Department is responsible for their construction, reconstruction, improvement and maintenance (NRS 408.285(1)). Unless expressly designated a state highway, every other highway, road, street, lane, sidewalk, alley, pathway, waterway or other way is not a state highway (§ 408.285(2)). Roads connecting state parks with state or county highways or city streets, where title is in the State, are parts of the state highway system (§ 408.285(5)). This is Nevada DOT, not Nebraska NDOT.
