FDOT may allow a law-enforcement agency to place ALPR in SHS right-of-way for active criminal intelligence or investigative information. Not for citations. Must follow FDOT placement guidelines. Install process in this state

  1. Name the land owner: State Highway System ROW is FDOT; county roads and city streets are not.
  2. The instrument on SHS was a General Use Permit (FAC 14-20.010) — temporary, non-exclusive, revocable.
  3. § 316.0777 already let FDOT approve, deny, or order removal with a 30-day clock.
  4. EOM 26-01 (August 31, 2026) revoked local-LEA LPR approvals on SHS ROW. Deadline September 30, 2026.
  5. New SHS LPR permits: FDOT said it will issue none.
  6. Records: Chapter 119 to clerk (votes), purchasing (contract), police (policy/logs), and FDOT (permit file).
